This is a software developmnt role requiring strong Java skills in a distributed/enterprise computing environment. The candidate will be expected to gain a rapid and detailed understanding of our market connectivity architecture, its implementation and its application to the provision of market data services for our internal clients. The candidate will take responsibility for development of new market links and the enhancement of our current links in response to upgrades requested by clients and mandated by exchanges.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain business critical market links supporting market data and static data services
- Face off to technical representatives within the business facing IT streams and build a strong working relationship with our clients
- Look for opportunities to reuse components across our application inventory
- Plan and manage technical aspects of delivery and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful production deployment
Required skills:
- Main skills
- Strong Java development skills with exposure to large scale enterprise projects
- Low-latency, high throughput, server application development skills
- Understanding of socket programming techniques
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and liaise effectively with stakeholders
- Fluent English both oral and written is a must
- Additional skills
- Market links or financial systems development skills
- C++ experience would be useful
- Performance profiling and tuning skills
- Understanding of Unix operating systems (particularly Linux)
- Exposure to agile methodologies in design and development (e.g. XP)
